Mid-Century Modern Bath

Pristine, intact 1950's Vitrolite bathOh, how my heart did skip a beat. A client asked me to show him a Mid-Century Modest ranch on the North Side of Indianapolis a while back. From the street, it was very understated. But it maintained some of the characteristcs of a Mid-Century Modern home that he was looking for: big expanses of glass, wide eaves, stone exterior. And, to top it off... it was completely unadulterated. Everything was untouched. The St. Charles cabinets in the kitchen looked lke brand new. The mahogany paneling was luscious.

And then there was this.

I love this bathroom. The bright white Vitrolite tile walls, the shiny chrome hardware, the gorgeous tile floor. Some day I will recreate this bathroom in my own home.

The bad news? When this house sold, the new owners ripped out every square centimeter of this space. Bummer.
